Ships ~ 2nd edition

Okay, before you discard this blog as ‘oh, just another 2nd edition’ let me tell you this is the LAST one!  We finally got through my tremendous backlog of books, had them tweaked, edited, and even new covers made for many.  This was my first published book, my first published anything actually.

I wrote SHIPS in 2003 over the course of two weeks.  A story had come to me so strong that I felt it was like an exorcism to get it out of my brain and onto the computer.  I thought about the plot, the story line, while I worked.  Fortunately, I was self-employed running an international company and could multi-task like that.  I didn’t know if I was a lesbian, but a story about lesbians is what came to me and the result was SHIPS.  Something told me, either finish it ASAP or you will NEVER finish it…I met my first girlfriend after a week of writing….

SHIPS was tweaked many times before I got up the courage to actually publish it in 2011.  I didn’t have editors then and did the ‘best’ I could at the time.  Still, it’s a strong story and now that it has been edited, even makes me more nostalgic for the familiar story.

If this is your first read of this story, I hope you enjoy it.  If you’ve read it before, it’s now not really different, but definitely better.

Ships Front CoverHave you ever met a person that you just were in sync with?  You knew immediately that they were someone special for you?  Would you know how lucky you were?  Would you know they were the one?

What do you do when you fall in love with a woman, when you thought you were straight?  Dealing with this unusual relationship brings a lot of “firsts” to Joan’s life.

Joan is a world-renowned artist who has always identified as straight, has three children, and is content with her life when she meets Grace, a respected psychiatrist who also happens to be a lesbian.  Joan is conflicted and has to deal with her feelings, the incredible woman she finds herself in love with, and the relationship that occurs over the next twenty-years.

Doctored, Audiobook ~ Reviews

Doctored Audible

 Beautifully crafted reunion romance

The opening of the book has Madison receive exotic flowers from a secret admirer. Discovering who sent her the flowers takes her back into the past when she spent time in Africa as a Nurse. There she first met the smart and enigmatic doctor Deanna Cooper and fell slowly in love with her. The fear of gossip and rejection has her end the relationship before they could figure out if their love could flourish.
Ten years later in a hospital in Los Angeles the two woman meet again, the life they led had changed and matured them. They form a tentative friendship in the sometimes hostile environment of a LA Hospital and old feelings start to raise their head.

The story has wonderfully developed characters that draw you in from the first chapter and have you fall in love with them. Exotic places throughout the the book draw you in and the description and narration make it easy to picture Madison and Deanna in the African countryside as well as working side by side ten years later.
K’Anne Meinel has a great way of showing all the little things that just happen in life and make up the big picture of a young woman maturing into adulthood.

I loved the way Amelia Patricks brings the individual characters to life with their own unique voice and draws you deep into the story.

This was a great story, I really enjoyed it. Great how it explained the beginning of the relationship. I would like to say more, but you need to read the book. No spoil alerts here.
Thank you K’Anne Meinel.

 Loved It

This was an excellent, well written book that I didn’t want to stop listening to and I definitely didn’t want it to end. I will definitely be reading and listening to more books written by K’Anne. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars to the performance was because it seemed like some of the characters accents came and went!! Otherwise, fantastic all the way around!

 Even better as an audiobook

I read this book several months ago and really enjoyed it. The narration made it even better. The story is fantastic, and the narrator really captured the characters.

 Decent

If Wilbur Smith wrote lesbian fiction it would be like this. Easy listening, decent storyline.

It is a realistic narrative of the difficulty in acceptance of Love when it is judged and wrongly condemned by society!

Survivors ~ NEW

I am pleased to FINALLY announce my latest release SURVIVORS!G.jpg

For some, the world would end with the dropping of the bombs.  For others, a select few, it would present an opportunity to show their true mettle.  Those who will take on the challenge to live without, make do, and subsist on, are the survivors.

Jodi was one of the few.  She knew what was coming.  She read the signs, and she had friends in low places who kept her informed.  She bought a cabin in the middle of nowhere, fixed it up, and warned her closest friends and family that the time would come to abandon the big cities, to hide and seclude yourself for the safety of your family and everyone closest to you.

Krista was her partner, her best friend, and her wife at a time when states didn’t recognize same-sex marriage.  Krista coped with her mate’s compulsions by recognizing that indulging her was the best way to maintain a harmonious union.  After all, they could afford it.  Little did she realize that Jodi was destined to be the savior of them all.

Finding that things were much worse than everyone had speculated didn’t surprise Jodi.  But it would forever alter her family’s world view and transform them into something they hadn’t realized they were destined to become…SURVIVORS!

Small Town Angel, 2nd edition

Front Cover

Small towns are notorious for secrets … but what if you bring your secrets with you?

Amy Adams arrives in Northpoint, Wisconsin on a Greyhound bus.  Small towns are well known for not taking to strangers, but THIS stranger decides to stay.

Amy has a look around and to her, it ‘feels’ like home. She rents a cabin in the woods outside of town and proceeds to look for a place to open a store.  Renting to own from one of the locals, she soon finds herself making friends and making waves.  She won’t discuss where she is from and has nothing to say about her past.

People are extremely curious. This Southern Belle has them talking.

Abby Shipman, the Chief of Police in this neck of the woods, is intrigued by the decidedly mysterious and straight redheaded whirlwind that has blown into town. It’s strange that she won’t talk about her past, and she is certainly uncomfortable around Abby … or is it cops in general?

Amy is a mysterious, but friendly stranger to the folks in tiny Northpoint, Wisconsin when she arrives on a Greyhound bus! She reveals nothing about her previous life when asked!
Abby is the single small town sheriff of Northpoint & she is drawn to Amy, who buys her rundown grandparents store!
This is a sweet little small town romance with the mystery of Amy’s previous life looming over it, threatening their love, that is just beginning to surface!! I have it 5 stars!

This was different kind of story. I did like the storyline of both characters. I kept wondering what was up with Amy. This definitely a book I would recommend.
Adorable read 😊

I just finished this story.Very entertaining.
If this place really exists,I want to go there.
Never heard of the “Thumb ” area of Wisconsin on the Eastern coast but I would like to go there after reading this book.
It was fun getting to know Amy and Abby,Toby and Tabby and oh yeah the kids .Hated to see it end.

K’Anne was absolute perfection with the use of Southern language and innuendo. The attitude of a small backwoods town could not have been more accurate

Really enjoyed this. You literally sit through halfway to three quarters of it going what on earth is in her past… I really liked Amy/Angel’s character. Well written. But it’s K’Anne so you know it’s going to be good 🙂

Another superior book by K’Anne Meinel. From the first page to the last you are keep guessing as to what is going to happen between our two main characters Amy and Abby. You understand the confusion in Amy’s mind regarding relationships and as you continue to read the story mush of her past life is revealed and her reason for running is so apparent. At the end you are exhausted but ecstatically happy with the ending.

This book is one of Miss Meinel’s best in a long line of great reads. Small Town Angel is a story that is so believable that you actually picture yourself as part of the story. once you start this book you will not want to put it down to do the dishes, laundry, put the kids to bed or go to bed yourself. From cover to cover this is full of excitement, love and suspense. Thanks K’Anne for another of your great imaginative stories.

This is a well-paced story with lovely characters. I found myself rooting for the two protagonists to get together – the writing hinting that they found each other attractive was tender and believable. You get the sense that there are secrets to be revealed, and when these gradually come out they are worth the wait, and then further twists at the end had me gripped til the last page!

the story was amazing and fun to read. I loved the fact that she overcame so many obstacles to be herself. as an avid reader I like stories that are believable. this one is. The story line is easy to follow and the story is a book you read in one sitting.
I’d recommend this to a friend.
