Senora Mary Carmen Valenzuela Pearson inherits half a sheep ranch, called a station in the Outback of Australia. Already a ranch owner in Central California, this inheritance creates a huge dilemma for the Hispanic-American.
Deciding to sell her ranch and travel to the Outback to see what her uncle has left her, she loads up her children, her cousins and their families, and her valuable horses and books a ship to Australia. The journey will take months by water and many more months by land to get from Sydney to the station.
Follow along as Carmen decides where she truly belongs and whether this Outback station will become part of her heritage.

I enjoyed Outback Heritage. This is Book three in the series. There is a lot you will already know from reading the preceding books in the series. Interesting.

I enjoyed reading Carmen’s experience of the Latin community in California being ousted by the White Americans wanting their land. It’s a sad time in our nation’s history. It wasn’t overly done in its telling & gave sufficient background for Carmen’s choice to travel with kith and kin to Australia. Women weren’t respected in any book in the series and Alinta, Mel, Carmen, & Fabiola were strong women in this story. Well written and a good read for anyone wanting to read about women, made strong by their circumstances, choosing to live on their own terms.

I received this series as a gift, and I want to let you know that this is one for the ages. The settings are all described with such detail that you can feel the roll of the ocean under the planks of a wooden sailing ship. The characters are so rich and well thought out. The story is written in such a way that you are transported.

This books gives yet another perspective on the story which has been developing over the previous three books. We get to see how Carmen experiences the journey to the Outback and all of the challenges she faces along the way. The story line overlaps with the previous books, but that is what makes this interesting. We get to see another viewpoint and find out how she sees and feels the events. I am looking forward to the future stories in this series!
The beauty of this series is you can read any of these first four in any order! Don’t wait, for under $5 these are absolutely worth the read! (Also available as paperbacks!)
