BLOG HOP with FREE books!

TRT Home for Holiday Banner

Happy Holidays, try this great recipe for your own holiday desert, my family has enjoyed it for years!

1 can of pineapple chunks

1 can of mandarin oranges

1 bottle of maraschino cherries

half a bag of mini marshmallows

1 pint of sour cream

Drain the juices from the canned goods and bottle into cups as you can use the juice to make mixed drinks.  Put the sour cream in a bowl, add the fruit, mix until all is coated (I’d suggest a rubber spatula to get the cream off the sides of the bowl fully).  Add the marshmallows and coat these as well as they will absorb any extra juice or moisture and sweeten the ‘sour’ cream.  Let it set in the refrigerator over night for the flavors to meld.  Serve as a ‘salad’ or side dish or as a desert.  Don’t eat it all yourself though as delicious as it is!  You can also add coconut to the mix as some do but I’m not a fan of it myself.

Your recipe is so simple but yum… I love the use of sour cream as it would balance the fruit beautifully. Might have to give this a go:)

I love this salad and have made it for along time. I usually do not put the cherries in until right before I serve it so it doesn’t make the cream pink.
Thanks for the giveaway. I would like to read one of your books.
